2014 Outdoor Design Trends
We anticipate 2014 will be another year for growth in outdoor living and outdoor entertaining. Here’s a glimpse of the trends we’re anticipating:
– Outdoor Kitchens –As savvy consumers continue to realize that it is far more enjoyable and convenient to have all your outdoor cooking tools within reach, we anticipate continued growth in the addition of outdoor kitchens. In support of this trend, we’re seeing more and more manufacturers offering outdoor shelving and tables as well as more size and color options for outdoor counters, wine storage, kegerators, warming drawers and more.
– Outdoor Fabrics – As the distinction between the indoor room and outdoor room continues to merge, we predict more consumers will be taking advantage of outdoor fabrics for furnishings, curtains, and pillows. Fully-upholstered outdoor furniture continues to grow in popularity and premier manufacturers including Lloyd Flanders and Lane Venture have introduced new collections in which sofas, sectionals and chairs look the same as their indoor counterparts. Drapery and designer outdoor pillows are being used more frequently to bring warmth and style to the outdoor room.
– Color Trends – We anticipate we’ll continue to see a lot of the blues, greens, turquoise and emeralds that became extremely popular in 2013, and these hues beautifully complement our coastal surroundings. Pantone predicts more pinks and purples for spring with colors like Radiant Orchid, Violet Tulip and Cayenne among their top picks. With the breadth of designer outdoor pillows offered by Elaine Smith and durable outdoor fabrics offered by Sunbrella, incorporating these trendy colors within the outdoor room or patio will be a breeze.
We look forward to working with our friends, clients, area designers and developers to ensure every outdoor space is beautiful and functional.
